Daletech Electronics Ltd, based in Pudsey, is a leading provider of electronic product design, electronic manufacturing and regulatory compliance services. Daletech was approached by one of its clients, ElectraTech Ltd, who was seeking assistance in the design of an innovative new product that reduces domestic power usage. With help from the Engineering Design Centre of Industrial Collaboration (Engineering Design CIC) in the design and manufacture of product casing, Daletech was able to rapidly deliver a working prototype of the "Savasocket".

It is estimated that most household equipment is left on standby for an average of 17.5 hours per day. By plugging household electrical appliances such as the T.V, video and DVD player into the "Savasocket", which then plugs into the mains, customers would be able to turn off all appliances with one press of their existing T.V remote control. The resulting reduction in energy consumption could save the average household up to £50 per year. ElectraTech has begun negotiations with the Energy Savings Trust and the Carbon Trust to credit the product with a "20% savings kite mark"

By working with the Engineering Design CIC, Daletech was able to turn round the prototype in half a day, with skilled CAD design, comprehensive project management and some of the latest rapid manufacturing equipment, exceeding ElectaTech's expectations both in terms of rapid delivery and cost.
